Live at Terra 10th Feb 2010

Mainly deep house but there are some bubbly acid house style tracks thrown in, and some nu disco type stuff from Spirit Catcher as well. Couldn’t resist playing some Larry Heard either. Thanks Lanne…Continue

OHHH...the last Terra Wednesday has gone without comment - not because it wasn't worth commentary - it was wonderful! Silus Kappler gave us one of his (always impeccable) deep house sets...as did Olaf Quintessa (with some lovely space disco) stepping in for Muzeek Okey who was having computer issues.

Many of you may not yet have been to the gallery (Chanthira Centre for the Cont. Arts) that is out back of Terra Lounge. I try to showcase artists who are working with the tools of SL to create visual imagery - both 2d and 3d. Currently an interesting exhibit there - imagery by Solange Daviau(USA) and Natsha Lemton (FR). If you haven't seen it yet - take a moment to wander through.

Finally - busy days in RL for me. So Terra is taking the rest of April off. Look for our weekly gigs back in May - with the usual good vibe and great DJ's.

Cheers! Lanne.

LAST WEEK RUNDOWN: I'm catching up from last week. Why am I always so behind? Anyways :-) I'm really enjoying having renanyoy Oh spin @ Terra. It's a surprise to hear how he is going to construct his sets - and he puts things together in a way that is unique - I don't hear anyone else quite like this. Take a listen sometime if you haven't heard him yet. He will be back at Terra on a regular basis if I can help it.

Jasminx Saenz ... if anyone aside from Court is a resident here - it is Jasminx. It is not simply that her mixes are imaginative and hot - she is also totally professional. More and more this is something that is important to me. Especially as there are seemingly hundreds of 'DJ's' coming out of the woodwork daily. See her again at Terra - or catch her at her home-base, Filth.

A bit of a late start last week – Silus Kappler was not able to make it inworld and as people were starting to stop by and mill about, I was wondering what to do with them until Ansome showed up for his set.

Out of nowhere, Yotan Korobase offered to play. Now, if you don’t know Yotan – you can read the interview with him posted HERE or you can listen to the set he played (as well as many others) HERE. Listen to the way he constructs the music – so that in a short time – we are up on our feet yelling and bouncing about, the club is full – and people are IM’ing me “WHAT is going on over there??? I can’t get in!!!” Yotan is a fine DJ – but also a fine friend. Stepping in like that was one of those random act of kindness that just make you feel glad. Thank you my friend.

When GaryN shows up for a set you know that you are in for a mix that is eclectic and pure pleasure. He draws from all over the map – and pulls it together into something that always sounds seamless – at least to me. I’m always happy when he agrees to stop in to spin. He promises to be back next month - and I'm gonna hold him to it.

Next week's party will be a bit later in the day – flyer goes up soon – so keep your eyes peeled. As always, thanks for the support and good times. See you soon.

Did not post anything about last week's sets and already hanging up the flyer for this coming Wednesday. But - still want to give a shout out to both Bibdui Babenco and TheArtfullOne Skytower for the great music we heard on the 10th.

Bib has been getting people up and dancing as long as I can remember - I first heard her at Radi's old place (Club Vital)....she would play in the morning (my time) and listening to her was the way I got myself up and moving. She is modest about her talents - but I think they are massive. Her sets are meant to get people up and bouncing around the room - and they ALWAYS do. If you have not heard her before - make a point of it. She was away from SL for a bit - but is back now and will be returning to Terra for sure. So keep a watchful eye.

I first met Artie Skytower two years ago when he would come into SL on Saturday to spin at the first Enigma. It was EARLY my time...but I would set my alarm for six a.m. and get up because I knew his deep house mixes would give me the best possible start to the day. I think he is someone who does not get the attention he deserves - and again, would encourage you to seek out his sets if you haven't heard him yet. Between time differences and work schedules - it took a long time for us to find a date that worked...but it won't be the last time you hear him playing here.

Finally, I can't say enough about those of you who have been coming out and enjoying the music and the atmosphere at Terra Lounge. It is always such a great crowd - and even the couch jumpers are endearing - what would we do without them? xx

This week, Corkman Silus Kappler and Londoner GaryN Ansome will be on deck for a deep St. Paddy's Day party. Come early, stay late - looking forward to seeing you, as always.

Cheers, Lanne

Talk about inspired!! Yesterday was an exceptional event - ask anyone who was lucky enough to attend - we were full up for most of the four hours as people who made it in tended not to leave.

silver titanium took us on a journey to where he gets his inspiration - spinning everything from Pink Floyd to Hendrix to radiohead to the Doors - with some Gary Jules and Cold War Kids thrown into the mix. Some folks were feeling quite nostalgic, but I just kept thinking....these tunes are great precisely because they transcend time. As soon as I heard the first few bars of Marley's Redemption Song, I was reminded (again) of how universal music is.

renanyoy oh was up next - and moved us in a totally different but equally powerful direction. Rather than back and forth in time and space...he teleported us around the globe - with tribal beats and techno house tunes that had everybody moving on the dancefloor (or JUMPING furiously on the couches!!) I loved the Mathias Kaden he threw into the mix....quite a set.

Speaking of the couches....SOME people (nameless - but you know who you are) taking a bit too much delight in spillage and jumping...but Court assures me that everything is scotch guarded - so knock yourselves out :-). Speaking of Court, he has been busy with a new remix: On This Side, featuring Bora Yoon. It's out now and you can find it on beatport here.

Yesterday gave me tons of ideas for future events....so stay tuned. Again, peace - love - and thanks for all of your support.
